PIERRE TERRASSON is a world-renowned photographer of the rock, punk and new wave scenes of the eighties, who also made his mark in the rap, hip-hop and raï arenas of the nineties and noughties and to this day pursues his undying passion, shooting independent, alternative, underground stages as well as the ‘Nouvelle scène française” in France and abroad.
Pierre graduated in plastic arts from the internationally-reputed Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts, Paris, in 1978 yet fell madly in love with photography. Only two years later, in 1980, he became official photographer for the French and international rock press partnering with leading names such as Rock en Stock, Rock & Folk, Best, Rolling Stone, The Sound, Libération, Actuel, Le Nouvel Obs, VSD, etc.
Throughout his career, the artist has run across and shot the world’s greatest rock stars such as David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Lou Reed, U2, Tina Turner, The Cure, Iron Maiden, The Clash, Indochine, Nina Hagen, Depeche Mode, The Cramps, The Stranglers, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Scorpions, ACDC, The Damned, to name but a few. During a photo shoot in 1984, Pierre met Serge Gainsbourg, a special alchemy developed between the two photography enthusiasts and the men became close friends.

Since the early 2000s, the famous Rock ‘n’ Roll photographer’s work has been constantly showcased in galleries around the world and used for a myriad of publications, CD/DVD sleeves, posters, etc.
Publications include Backstage, Hard Times, 80’s Le Grand Mix, Catherine Ringer & les Rita Mitsuko, Top des Années 80, De Gainsbourg à Gainsbarre, Vanessa Paradis, The Cramps, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Telephone ça, (c’est vraiment eux), Bashung, Les 7 vies d'Indochine, Sanson, and the soon-to-be-released Post-Punk 1978-85... where Pierre’s work is sublimely centre-staged by leading authors such as Pierre Mikailoff, Christian Eudeline, Didier Daeninckx, Alain Wodrascka, Tony Frank...
Exceptional images showing the secluded intimacy of the rock scene in all its hidden glory... peephole views from a mythical place where the photographer encounters the ever-so-rare, that something special... a place filled with elusive enchantment, secrets... where moments are precious, fleeting, to be grasped before they disappear in the blink of an eye: fragments of a world apart, a mosaic of eccentricities, originalities: girls, groupies, regulars, one-night stands, luxury hotels, seedy backstreet rooms, veritable goldmines inviting us into the life of the stars. The ever-present booze, in all its splendour and in all its ugliness; guitars, our rockers' ever-faithful friends. Bathrooms, bedrooms, backstages ... places of total solitude where the photographer, Pierre, is welcomed to capture those once-in-a-lifetime shots...

Pierre also produces video clips for French rock bands, portraits for well-known actors and sports people, and has more recently invited the public to discover other aspects of his art, such as his Polaroids, his impressive paint & sculpture portrait series, and his captivating landscapes from his travels through the USA, China, Thailand, Japan, Senegal, Peru, Eastern Europe and, of course, Belfast, Northern Ireland!
